What can I expect at a Making Dinner Fun session?
Everything you’ll need to take the hassle out of dinner time. We’ve designed the menus, shopped, chopped, and prepared the ingredients, so you just have fun preparing your meals. Once you arrive, our staff will check you in and give you a quick orientation. You'll receive a list of the entrees you ordered, then pick a station and begin. You’ll leave with 6 to12 dinners ready for your freezer. During the month, simply thaw out a meal and follow the simple instructions. You will have dinner prepared in no time!
Why attend a session when I can do this myself at home?
Yes, we know you can do this yourself at home, but why? After extensive recipe development and tasting, we select the menus, buy the groceries, prepare the ingredients and, we clean up the mess! Not only will you have fun making your meals, but you also get to spend time with a group of people while doing it.
Do I need to know how to cook?
Absolutely not! We provide easy to follow recipes, assembly instructions and cooking instructions. If you need assistance, we are always here to help.
How long does a session last?
This all depends on the number of menu items you are making and the speed at which you work. We don't want you to rush! A typical 12-meal session will take you approximately two hours, and a 6-meal session will take approximately one hour.
How many people are there at a session?
On average, there are usually 8-12 people attending each session.
Is there anything I need to do before I arrive?
Each of your meals will be ready for you to put in the freezer until you are ready to serve. Make sure you have some space available in your freezer. Meals are usually packaged in aluminum containers or zip-lock freezer bag. They are easy to stack for compact areas.
What do I need to bring to the session?
You will need to bring a large cooler in which to transport your completed meals. We provide the rest! Wear comfortable shoes and clothing, as you will be moving around preparing your meals. We’ll provide the aprons, but plan on wearing clothes that can get a little dirty.
How do I register?
You register through our website by clicking on Login! First time users will create a profile when they login. Once you login, you select your meals and choose a session date and time that is convenient for you. Our online process will walk you through choosing entrees, service selections, and payment options.
How do I pay?
You pay when you sign up for a session. We accept Visa, MasterCard, or checks. If you pay by check, you may bring your check with you and pay at your session.
What if I need to cancel my session?
We understand that situations change so we offer several options in case you cannot attend your scheduled session. You can reschedule for a different session within that same week or, for an additional fee, we will assemble the meals you have ordered and you can arrange to pick them up at a designated time.
We are also able to fully refund your credit card if you cancel your order two (2) or more business days before your scheduled session. The reason for this policy is that we will have already ordered or purchased the food specifically for you to use in your order.
Once I've arrived at my session, can I change the meals I've signed up for?
We purchase and prep ingredients specifically for each person who signs up. Although it is not possible to cancel an item at the last minute, it is often possible to add additional items during a session. Check with one of our staff to make sure we can accommodate your request
What are the menus like?
We focus on creating seasonal menus with wide appeal. We also like trying out new and interesting combinations and flavors. We present customers with fourteen different choices per month and try to offer customer favorites on a recurring basis. Back to Top
How many people will each meal serve?
Each entree will serve 4 to 6 adults, depending upon individual appetites.
What if I don't need such large portions?
Most of the meals can be divided into half-size portions and smaller pans will be available. Each half-size portion serves approximately 2-3 adults. You may also bring a friend and split the dinners.
What if I don’t like or want certain ingredients in my meals?
We understand that everyone has different tastes. Some don’t like onions, while others can’t get enough. Not to worry, we created our meals with flexibility in mind. If your family doesn't like green peppers, leave them out. If you don't like things spicy at your house, add only half of what the recipe calls for. We are happy to help you adjust the spices and ingredients so everyone at your table is happy.
Can I choose the same menu item more than once during a session?
Yes, you may order multiple quantities of your favorite entrees. However, each month we offer several premium items to choose from. We limit the total number of premium items to two per order. You may purchase additional premium items for a small fee.
Can you accommodate food allergies?
One of the best things about our meals is that they are flexible and there is a variety to choose from each month. In most cases, you can simply omit the ingredients which you are allergic to or bring your own substitutes with you. All ingredient labels are available for you to review. Please note that some common food allergens, such as milk and nuts, are used in many of our recipes and will be present during most sessions.
Can I just drop in and do a session with out an appointment?
No. You need to register on our web site or call and make an appointment for a session.
Can I have my order assembled for me?
Yes, for a small fee, we will assemble your order for you. Simply indicate that you want Pick-Up service when you place your order. Check the calendar for designated days and times of pick-up.
Can I bring a guest with me? What about my child?
You are welcome to bring a friend with you. We do ask that you don’t bring more than one helper since the assembly stations weren’t designed for too many cooks. Also, we request that you don't bring children under age 12 since sometimes they can be a distraction to others.
How long does it take to thaw a meal?
Once frozen, the typical full size entree will require approximately 24-48 hours in your refrigerator to thaw completely. For food safety reasons, it's always best to defrost meals in the refrigerator.
How long can my meals stay stored in the freezer?
It is recommended that you use your meals within three months of freezing. The proper way to defrost anything is to leave it in your refrigerator for the 24 hours or so it will take to thoroughly defrost. Items should not be thawed by leaving them on the kitchen counter as this method allows for germs and spoilage.
Can I refreeze an entree after it has defrosted if I decide not to cook it right away?
Once a meal is defrosted, it is not recommended, from a food safety standpoint, that it be re-frozen. In this situation, you should cook the dish according to the cooking instructions on the label and freeze the cooked entree to eat at a later date.
